Eddy Rommel is Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (1985) and Master in Animal Production (1987) from the University of Liège, Belgium. He is also Master in Laboratory Animal Sciences (1989) from the CIAL (Centre d’Information sur l’Animal de Laboratoire, Veterinary School of Lyon, France) and in Business Administration  (2000) (EPM Management Services, Belgium).

 

From 1988 to 2002, Eddy Rommel was Associate Director at GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, Belgium, where he was responsible for the in-vivo quality control of vaccines and for regulatory affairs. Previously he was research assistant at the University of Liege. Eddy is member of the Product Development Team of TBVi (Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative) and of several professional national and international associations related to the use of laboratory animals (BELTOX, BCLAS, AFSTAL, ESLAV). He is the Past-Chair of the EFPIA Working Group on the use of Primates in Research and Chair of the Biomedical Research Platform of the association of Belgian pharmaceutical industries (Pharma.be). He has served for 8 years as an ad hoc specialist for AAALAC International (Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care).
